The Church Has Left The Building

Registration Deadline: Sept 9th, 2012

CHLTB registration form 2012

Register early! Projects will be assigned based on the order that registrations are received. An early registration will increase the chance of getting your first choice project.

Please use one registration form per person.

Groups are required to meet at Dorranceton before heading to job sites and are encouraged to car pool.

You may sign up for multiple projects if time allows.

Please plan to bring a BROWN BAG LUNCH if you are working through the lunch hour.

What about my kids?

Children under 12 may participate in any project marked for all ages, but they must be accompanied by a parent. One exception: Project #14 Lemonade Stand is designed specifically for kids ages 5-12 without their parents. The Church Has Left the Building is an excellent chance to teach our youngest generation the importance of serving our neighbors, while working alongside the older members of the church.

Child care will be available at Dorranceton for children under 12 from 9AM to 12PM and 1PM to 4PM. Please indicate on your registration form if you intend to use our childcare.

How will I know which project I am assigned to?

Early in the week prior to this event, each team leader will contact the members of his/her team with final instructions about when to gather and what to bring.

We will celebrate the day at 5:00PM Sunday, September 23 with a picnic and worship service

I was hungry, you gave me food. I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink, I was alone and away from home, and you invited me into your house. I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison and you visited me…Anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for me.”

(Matthew 25:35-36, 40; NCV)

Flood Relief Volunteers

A Volunteers in Mission team from Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, “The Carpenter’s Calling,” is staying with us this week and cooking meals in our kitchen.  Here’s a piece that WNEP aired featuring the flood relief work that they are doing in our community.  We are so blessed to be able to host them here!

Souper Bowl Food Drive

Did you know that donations to food pantries drop off significantly after the holidays?  It’s also the time of year that people have the most trouble paying their utilities bills because of the cold weather.  That’s why the DUMC missions committee is sponsoring a Souper-Bowl playoff in our church.  Bring your non-perishable food items to church, and we’ll collect them during the offering.  Each Sunday, we’ll tally up the totals between the left and right sides of the church and post them on our scoreboard.  The food will go to support the West Side Food Pantry, hosted at The Church of Christ Uniting.

Even if you are not excited about the Steelers vs. Denver game, I hope you can join us in this alternate celebration of the playoff season.
